Bodrum Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum is where fascinating exhibits of various shipwrecks have been recovered and reassembled. What is considered the world’s oldest known shipwreck and its cargo of copper ingots, tin, precious gems and much more was discovered in 1982 at Ulu Burum is also on display. The East Roman Ship displayed in the chapel dates from the 7th century, and a reconstruction of part of the ship allows you to walk on to the full-scale exhibit.
The Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum is housed in the medieval Bodrum Castle of The Knights of St.John which was built with stones taken from the Mausileum of Halicarnasus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Bodrum is a fascinating city indeed, and the first rate Bodrum hotels will show you warm and welcoming hospitality in true Turkish style.
