The Villa Borghese in Rome is situated on a hill known as the Pincio, immediately above the Piazza del Popolo. The seventeenth century pleasure palace was owned by Scipione Borghese and was bought by the city of Rome in the early 20th century. The grounds cover a vast area with woods and a lake and among the attractions some of Rome's finest museums. It is a pleasant place to escape to where one can enjoy quiet walks or take a boat out on the lake.
