The Seattle Art Museum is a 5-storey building that precedes the collections within by being a magnificent work of art in itself. Designed by post-modern theorist Robert Venturi, Seattle is justly proud of the edifice with its limestone exterior and vertical fluting with terra cotta, marble and cut granite accents. The extensive holdings of Native American, African, Asian and pre-Columbian art on display will keep the visitor absorbed for hours, and when exhausted or need of refreshment, a cup of Seattle’s famous coffee and a meal is available at the café.
